BC Chamber sees promise in BC Jobs Plan

Victoria, September 23, 2011 – Chambers of Commerce from across the province find a lot of support for the BC business community in the new Canada Starts Here: BC Jobs Plan.

“The Provincial Government clearly recognizes the need to let private industry grow the economy, and has given it a number of tools to do so in the BC Jobs Plan,” said John Winter, President & CEO of the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

The Canada Starts Here: BC Jobs Plan recognizes the important role of small businesses as job creators in BC, and will provide more access to capital and streamline the permit and approvals process.  The Jobs Plan will specifically support the export of natural resources to surging Asian markets, and focus on tourism, transportation infrastructure and education.

“The strength of our economy has always been natural resources,” continued Winter.  “By supporting those industries that lead our economy, job growth and a strong investment climate the province has positioned BC well in these uncertain economic times.”
