HST and Chamber membership

As you are aware the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) will take effect on July 1, 2010. The following information will hopefully assist in understanding how membership fees will be affected.

If membership is due on January 1, 2010 for the full 2010 year, under the Provincial Government transitional rules, HST will not have to be collected on any portion of the fee as the balance is due before May 1, 2010.

If the membership fee is due on or after July 1, 2010, HST applies.  Further, any fees due on or after July 1, 2010, but paid from May 1, 2010 onwards (according to provincial Government Transitional rules) will be charged HST.

If you have questions regarding membership and HST please do not hesitate to contact the BC Chamber at 604.683.0700 or bccc@bcchamber.org.
