- Budget committee moved – Hon. Mike de Jong moved a motion to create and empower the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services to conduct their 2011 budget
consultations. The consultation report will be prepared for the House no later than November 15,
2010. Read more - Transmission Line to power BC’s northwest – An umbrella agreement worth $180 million between BC Transmission Corp and AltaGas Income Trust will see construction of the NorthWest Transmission Line. The agreement also includes the Forrest Kerr clean energy project near Bob Quinn Lake. Read more
- BC invests $2M in ranching - The Province is investing $2 million in B.C.’s ranching industry with the potential to leverage up to $3 million in federal funding to develop market opportunities and invest in research. Read more
- Provincial Nominee Program expanded – A new three-year pilot program will give B.C. businesses access to foreign graduate students from health and applied sciences. Foreign graduate students studying in B.C. will be able to apply for immigrant status in advance of receiving and accepting a full-time offer of employment. Read more
